MAPIKU mask. Macondo used by village communities in the north of Mozambique, in dances that evoke ancient rites or "thank you". Only one of the members of the village, chosen by the leader, can wear it. The old man will call himself some of the younger ones at different times will leave the community, reaching different spaces. None of them will ever know the identity of the other. In the end only the chosen will return to the village wearing the mask. At sunset, will join the crowd of drummers and residents of that village, and dance to the beat of wooden Batuka tirelessly for his people and the gods.
